Wojciech Szczesny will stay with the Blaugrana next season, Barcelona sporting director has confirmed.

Barcelona sporting director Anderson Deco has confirmed that Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny will remain at the club next season, pending the official signing of a new contract.

He is a player we know can contribute a lot,’ Deco said. ‘Then credit to the coach and the players on a daily basis. We are happy with him. He will definitely be with us next season.’
Deco also spoke about the team’s overall performance this season, saying: ‘When the season started, the plan was to fight for the championship. Nothing is acceptable here.’
‘We are in a good moment with almost all the players, with confidence. Winning or losing is a process. Competing is what we have to do and that’s what we have achieved so far.’
Barcelona’s sporting director also spoke about the club preparing to submit an official request to change the timing of the match, especially the away game at Real Valladolid, which is in the middle of the Champions League semi-final against Inter Milan.
‘We will ask and try to change the schedule. Sometimes they listen to us, sometimes they don’t. In the Champions League, we take risks when we have to protect ourselves with the schedule.’
‘The manager has been talking to us about this for a long time. We don’t have the authority to make decisions. We’re understand why the game against Valladolid was scheduled for Sunday but now it’s moved to Saturday, where it could be played at 4pm or 6pm (La Liga had scheduled it for 9pm).’
‘We wanted to play a little bit earlier. We wanted to play a little bit earlier. We’re asked to play at 6.30pm but the league will decide again.’
